Windows are not a Pane
This is covered on pages 22 to 25 in the book. Play with these actions until you are real comfortable with them.
Closing windows
Click the close button on the title bar. Right click the title bar and click Close. Pick Close or Exit from the File menu.
Resizing windows
Point to the edge of the window and drag the double head arrow.
Right click the Title bar and click Size on the menu.
Does not work when maximized.
Moving windows
Drag the title bar.
Right click the Title bar and click Move on the menu.
Does not work when maximized.
Displaying multiple windows
When multiple tasks are running, the windows that are not minimized can be tiled or stacked neatly or cascaded.
Right click on a blank spot on the Taskbar and choose Cascade or one of the Tile entries from the menu. Play with this until you find what you like.
Switching windows
Click the task button on the Taskbar
Hold down Alt and hit the Tab key. Icons are displayed for all the tasks you have running. Hold down the Alt key and hit Tab until the Task want is highlighted. When you release the Alt key, the task comes to the front and becomes Active.
